Rensselaer Troy and Hartford Libraries Integration

Rensselaer’s Troy libraries and Hartford’s Cole library have been integrated. All electronic books, journals and databases that have been available to Troy campus users are now also available to Hartford affiliated users via the online website – RensSearch (Rensselaer Libraries).

In addition, Hartford affiliated users can request print books and other materials online from Folsom Library which will be delivered to them via United Parcel Service (UPS), along with a pre-paid mailer for return delivery. All Rensselaer users also have access to the RensSearch Ask-A-Librarian reference service.

Welcome Hartford affiliated users to the integrated Rensselaer Libraries!

Rensselaer Troy and Hartford Libraries Integration

Effective August 25th, the first day of fall semester classes, Rensselaer’s Troy Folsom and Hartford Cole campus libraries will be integrated.  All online, electronic library materials that have been available to Troy campus students will also be available to Hartford campus students via the unified online website – RensSearch (Rensselaer Libraries).   In addition, Hartford campus students will utilize the online interlibrary loan function of RensSearch to order print materials and journal articles from Troy.  The materials will be delivered to Hartford student’s homes via UPS, along with a pre-paid mailer for return delivery.  Hartford students will also have access to the RensSearch Ask A Librarian reference service.

SUMMER LIBRARY HOURS

Library staff will be intermittently available during the summer. Library hours during the week will remain the same, but the library will be closed on Saturdays, except for Saturday, August 2 and Saturday, August 9. We will be open on those two Saturdays to allow students to study for finals and finish up projects.

If you find the library unstaffed and need immediate technical assistance, please call 548-5311.

Hartford Students Now Have Access to Troy Campus Library Databases!

Rensselaer Hartford students can now use your RPI Hartford id to access the databases offered by the Folsom Library on the Troy campus. To access the databases, go to http://library.rpi.edu/update.do?catcenterkey=270 and search databases by subject and/or name.

BlendKit 2014: An EDUCAUSE and UCF Partnership (free!)

EDUCAUSE is excited to announce a five-week open course on blended learning, in partnership with the University of Central Florida. On April 21 we will launch the BlendKit 2014: Becoming a Blended Learning Designer MOOC.
Drs. Kelvin Thompson and Linda Futch (UCF Center for Distributed Learning) will provide facilitated assistance to faculty members and instructional designers in developing and designing blended courses. Participants will consider key issues related to blended learning and gain practical step-by-step guidance in producing materials for a blended course.
Although the MOOC is offered at no cost, participants may choose to earn the portfolio-review-based UCF/EDUCAUSE Certified Blended Learning Designer credential and digital badge for a fee ($89).
